If you catch a 30lb+ carp please picture and submit both sides of the fish to help with identification and record keeping. Thanks.

The club rules are there to protect the fish and the lakes.  If you are caught breaking these you will be banned.  This includes being away from your rods (socialising in the next swim even 20 yards away is not allowed) and if you do sack fish it must be only for a short time whilst you prepare your camera etc.

As  a result of breaking the rule on being away from your rods a member has been banned for six months - be warned!

WARNING TO ALL

It is with disgust I have to report an incident on Parc Farm 1 for which if the angler was caught he or she would receive a long ban. A yearly or rented ticket holder would not be able to fish the lakes again so be warned!

A few items of litter are being found around the site and must cease, take it home!. However, worse than this, a bailiff was clearing up litter from PF1. A plastic bag with and two bottles on top was spotted but unknown to the bailiff it was covering up what was beneath, human excrement. He did not realise this until he started to pick it up and a spell of retching followed. There are toilets on site, use them!. In the rare event that you are caught short dig a hole and cover up or use newspaper and dispose of it. DO NOT LEAVE IT FOR OTHERS TO CLEAR AWAY.

August 2010

Linford 1 has been fishing very well with many 30lb carp including Malcolms and Clover (at 38lb)  being caught but most anglers have not sent in a catch report.  This catch report page is for YOUR benefit so please start sending in your pictures in,  otherwise it will be discontinued.

Thanks to the three anglers who sent in reports for August, these are below:-

Mark Woolley with Crescent at 34lb 1oz.

Gareth, a guest on Linford 1 caught this 24lb mirror followed by a 26lb 8oz mirror.

James with his first 30 from Linford 1 at 30lb 6oz. He also caught fish of 22lb and 17lb.

A couple of additonal reports.  Nathan has been catching well on Linford 1 and had landed at least 11 carp in the last few weeks. This has included Crescent (for the third time this year) and Black Spot at 32lb 4oz, pictured below.

Declan and a quest, Simon fished PF1. Declan landed a 26lb common and Simon (below) caught the Parrot at 29lb 4oz.

July 2010

Very few reports this month even though I know of some good catches.  If you do not send these in I cannot provide the catch report section in this web-site.

Although the catfish in PF2 have only been active for short spells during July many have been caught, up to about 75lb (not certain of weights as only one report submitted). Thanks to Jon Stotton for his report which includes fish of 52lb, 54lb and one fish, about 8 foot in length that bottomed out his scales at 66lb.

Declan Vines has caught a few fish off the top and on zig rigs from Linford One, all 20lb+ with the best weighing 27lb.   After a few barbel blanks on the river (I did catch bream to 7lb)  I finally located a few barbel and after catching four smaller fish (to 7lb 10oz) I caught my first ever double at 12lb 3oz.

June 2010

Spawning and the hot weather and little rain resulted in a quite month for most species. Barbel champion, David Marle caught two barbel and chub of over 6lb from the river. The cats of PF2 were active in spells and a number were caught including fish of 51lb, 60lb and a rumoured 74lb.  Taking an enforced break from carp fishing  Chris Oakley  targetted the cats and landed one of 51lb. Chris Daley caught an excellent 29lb 12oz common from PF1. The main event for the month was the Help for Heros charity match which despite the poor fishing conditions was enjoyed by all and raised approx. £4,000. Thanks to Great Linford management for providing the lakes and the hog roast.

May 2010

One of the best periods of the year for carp fishing in which Clover usually makes one of her rare appearances. Both statements were true again this year especially for John Lloyd who has caught well each time he has fished Linford 1 and his captures have included Malcolms at 34lb 8ozs, at least three other 30s and Clover at 41lb 10oz. Congratulations John, excellent fishing.

Others to catch from Linford 1 were Alan Gulvin, four fish in one session including 2 x 30s and James and Gary who fished Linford 1 for the first time and caught straightaway. James Graham landed a 28lb 5oz mirror and a 9lb 4oz tench and Gary Plummer caught Duncs at 31lb 6oz. Parc Farm 1 and 2 have also fished well.

April 2010

The fishing is now much improved with catches from all lakes. This includes more catfish from Parc Farm 2 and as always the Pretty One being caught from Linford 1. Other catches include four carp to 25lb 9oz in 6 hours by Nick from Rocla, two x 30s and and two x 20s for Chris and his girlfriend from Parc Farm 1, Alex taking a 29lb 12oz mirror off the top from Linford 1 and bailiff David with a 28lb common and a 28lb 4oz mirror, also from Linford 1. Nathan has finally landed a fish from Linford 1 (a 22lb mirror) after 13 blanks, well done for his persistence as these sessions were throughout the awful winter period.

Pictures and more captures are detailed below.

March 2010

Only one catch report, a very happy Nick caught this 28lb 11oz mirror from PF1.  There have been other catches from the lakes but none reported to me. These include a 51lb cat from PF2  and at least 2 x 30lb carp from Linford 1 so the fish are at last starting to feed.

STOP PRESS - LATE REPORT !

The barbel fishing must have been easy on site last summer as even the owner of GLL managed to catch one!  David Marle is pictured below with a 13lb 8oz fish caught from the Ouse.

January / February 2010

PF1 is still the only lake reported as producing any carp although it helps that bait is being introduced onn a regular basis.  A few doubles have been caught, including  one for myself. David Lovegrove finally caught a few after being outfished by Paul.  He landed three fish in 90 minutes, best of 28lb 9oz, pictured below.

15lb 4oz, my first fish of the year.

Our new bailiff, Paul Hyams, has been fishing PF1 and shown everyone else on the lake how to catch.  In two weekends he has landed 6 fish including a 24lb mirror and a 29lb mirror (and both were personal bests) so well done Paul.

 December 2009

David caught this 29lb mirror from Linford 1

Dean landed two 30s, one from Parc Farm 1 the week before Christmas at 30lb 1oz and a 31lb mirror from Linford 1 earlier in the month.

Only 2 catches to report. Kyle Schmidt fished Linford 1 for the first time and landed Black Spot at 36lb 15oz

Karl Butcher caught three carp from Parc Farm 1 including the Parrot at 31lb 4oz and a stunning 25lb 5oz mirror pictured below.

October 2009

Two late October catches to report.  Mark Littlewood continues to catch well and landed 3 x 30s and  5 x 20s in two sessions.  The largest fish was Malcolms at 34lb 12oz.  Mark has now landed 16 x 30s and 30 x 20s this year.  Duncan Rees fished a short session but managed to catch 3 fish including Black Spot at 35lb.

Malcolms at 34lb 12oz

Duncan with BlackSpot at 35lb.

If you were not on Linford 1 early this month you missed some excellent fishing. Some large catches were landed with the best being 1 double, 4 x 20s and 6 x 30s for Mark Littlewood. His largest fish was Black Spot at 34lb 10oz. Dave Wills, fishing Linford 1 for only the third time since 2005 showed he had not lost his touch, landing 8 fish including 2 x 30s and one 40! This fish was of course Clover at 41lb 2oz, congratulations Dave. I have been told that Clover has been caught again but no catch report or picture has been submitted.

Charlie Baker fished Linford 1 with a guest Dave Gash and ex-member and both caught well. Charlie caught two x 20s and Dave landed 2 x doubles, 3 x 20s and Crescent at 34lb 6oz.

Finally, Kevin submitted pictures of his personal bests for this year. This shows he is not just a carp angler and has landed catfish to 28lb 8oz and tench to 9lb 8oz as well as carp up to 33lb. Well done Kevin.

September 2009

A few catch reports from lakes in addition to Linford 1 this month. Owen Dever was rewarded with a different approach, fly fishing for carp, and caught a 10lb fish from the river and a personal best, a 28lb mirror from Redhouse. Declan Vines landed the Parrott at 29lb 12oz, off the top, from Parc Farm1 and Scott Walker caught commons of 22lb 6oz from Blackhorse and 24lb 13oz from Rocla. Linford 1 is still the main lake for big carp and the catches included the Pretty One caught twice, to Charlie Baker at 33lb 2oz and to Simon Cooper at 32lb 7oz. Charlie is still catching lots of tench. Simon has also caught a few 20’s. Nathan Quinn has been catching consistently and his catches include ghosties of 22lb 8oz and 24lb 8oz, four 20s and a personal best, landing Crescent at 33lb 2oz. He also landed a 9lb tench.

August 2009

With the exception of one report from Parc Farm 2 all this months reports are from Linford 1.   Is no-one catching anywhere else?   Paul is still catching cats from PF2 and the latest is a 51lb fish.  He also caught 4 carp in a short session. Over to Linford 1 and the reported catches are Alan Gulvin with a 31lb 5oz mirror,  Paul Allen with fish up to 28lb 2oz, his best of the year so far and James Butcher with an excellent brace of a 28lb 12oz common and a 29lb 14oz mirror.  Also Charlie Baker has been catching very well, mostly tench and 17 in one session!  Fortunately he also landed a few carp, best being Black Spot at 31lb 14oz.  Jon Savage sent in pictures of two recent low thirties from Linford 1 and finally new bailiff, David Lovegrove, caught Crescent off the top and then four days later off the bottom at 31lb.  He also landed a 30lb 4oz common.

July 2009

A number of anglers have shown that you do not need to sit behind your rods all day and night to catch carp.  Surface fishing and stalking has been productive this month.  As usual Alex has led the way and landed a 23lb mirror and a 31lb common  from Linford 1 in a short afternoon session.   I fished a short session on Linford 1 and caught the Pretty One at 31lb using plastic chum mixer.   A young Cain McBroom surface fished on Parc Farm 2 and with the help of his dad landed a 20lb mirror.  Simon Wales caught a 22lb 1oz common from Arboretum.  The cats have been hungry on Parc Farm 2 with regular capture reports.  Paul Gartside fished a short session and landed a 27lb cat and another that bottomed out his scales at 61lb.

Alex and son Max landed a 31lb common.

June 2009

Some good catches have been reported with the largest fish within the complex being caught at 68lb 8oz. It was a cat from Parc Farm 2, well done Kevin. Linford 1 continues to fish well with the best reported catch being 11 fish landed in 32 hours by Duncan. This included 9 x 20s, best 27lb. Nathan has caught Crescent at 31lb 2oz along with a 29lb mirror and he also reported a 31lb common he landed from Blackhorse a few weeks ago. A few other caches from Linford 1 include a 23lb 13oz ghost mirror for Gareth and this fish has been named ‘Tango’ and Fatty Arbuckle at a spawned out 25lb 2oz for Paul, Ian landed a 24lb 15oz common from Parc Farm 1 and Jay fished the day ticket water, Pines and caught a 29lb 14oz mirror.

May 2009

May is always a  productive month as the fish get ready for spawning and this month has not disappointed.  Some large catches from Linford 1 with many 30s and even a 40 as Clover made a rare appearance, this time at an all time high of  41lb 2oz.  A number of anglers caught personal bests and there was a 50lb cat from PF2 and a 10lb 6oz tench from Linford1.

April 2009

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Bleep Bleep who has not been too well recently.  However, some good news about him was that on his first fishing session this year he fished Linford 1 and caught at least 3 x30s including a 32lb+ common which is his first 30lb+ common, well done and hope you catch many more.

As usual at this time of year Linford 1 has been very busy and producing many 30lb carp but no reports yet of Clover or Malcolm  being caught.   David is still catching well and has had a large number of fish. Melissa being one of his latest captures.  Alan and Steve fished the duck hide area and had three 30s between them.  Ken caught a 32lb fish from the canopy swim

News from other lakes.  Tony landed a 34lb catfish from PF2 ( unfortunately I cannot upload the picture)  and Simon landed the Parrot from PF1, weighing 31lb 8oz.

Steve with Dunks at 33lb 8oz.

March 2009

Lads, as I am usually fishing elsewhere if you want to read about what is being caught at GL I need your catch reports.   I know Linford 1 has been very busy and a number of 30lb carp have been landed but only two reports have been received.  David has been rewarded for his persistence throughout the winter to catch steadily in March. His best fish being Crescent at 34lb.  I am aware of two 32lb+ commons being caught.  Jimmy caught a 27lb 4oz common from Linford 1.  A reported fish (at last) from Blackhorse, with Alex landing a 30lb 8oz common.  Finally, Ian caught a 23lb common from PF2 whilst float fishing using very light tackle but unfortunately no pictures due to a lack of  camera batteries.

David with Crescent at 34lb.

Jimmy landed this 27lb 4oz common.

Alex with the first reported 30 from Blackhorse for a very long time.

February 2009

A few carp and bream have been landed from PF1 and PF2.  Tim landed this PF2 ghostie and two double figure commons a day before the snow storms.  The only other catch report is from the day ticket water, Pines Lake.  Mick caught 3 x 20s in one night, the largest fish being a pb at 29lb 14oz.

January 2009

Frozen lakes and much snow is not good for fishing but a few hardy anglers still fished and some even caught.  Known captures incldue one or two fish from Linford 1 and a 20lb ghostie from PF1 along with two mid-doubles.

November and December 2008

Happy Christmas to all.  Only three reports for you as very few fishing, David continues to catch from Linford 1 and landed Duncs at 35lb and nearer Christmas a 27lb mirror.   New member Paul landed a  26lb 4oz mirror from PF1 and Steve landed a 23lb pike whilst spinning on Blackhorse.

October 2008

A very quite month, only David reporting this 33lb mirror from Linford 1.  It is a fish that has been growing steadily in the last few years.

September 2008

Linford 1 has been fishing well with most anglers catching.  David had an excellent catch at the start of the month with 3 x 30s (including BlackSpot and Malcolms) and 9 x 20s in 48 hours and a few days later he landed Crecent at 32lb.

David with a 27lb 4oz common, one of his 9x20s

Maz caught her first ever carp - a 23lb mirror from Pines Lake. Well done Maz!

August 2008

With spawning finished fish have started to feed well again with some good catches from Linford 1.   Neil landed 3x20s and 2 x 30s (Pretty One and Crescent) , Duncan also caught  3x20s and one 30 (Dunks) Harry landed Melissa at 28lb and finally Malcolms  has been caught by Malcolm and he also landed a 28lb 8oz leather and the Pretty One at 32lb 4oz.   Malcolms was down in weight at 33lb 8oz but it has lost its large gut so maybe good for the fish.     One non LInford 1 catch report and from the river!  Father and son Derek and Ceri cauhgt a 6lb 12oz bream and a 7lb 14oz tench respectively.

Malcolms with Malcolms at 33lb 8oz

Duncan and Dunks at 30lb 5oz

Harry landed Melissa at 28lb

Ceri with a 7lb 14oz river tench

July 2008

Little to report as the fishing is poor and as it is summer there are less anglers on site.  Jon landed a 52lb 8oz cat from PF2, Dave continues to catch off the top on Linford 1 and in a morning caught carp of 20lb, 28lb and 32lb and Nick has caught the Pretty One yet again (yawn, yawn) although he also landed one of the best looking fish from GLL, weight irrelevant.

I am now off to fish at another syndicate lake but will continue to update this web-site provide I am sent catch reports.  I will still be fishing GLL as there is still my target fish, the big common from Linford 1 to be caught.

June 2008

Now for a few catch reports.  Kate fished PF2 and caught 2 mid 20 Cats.  David has been surface fishing and landed 5 fish from PF1 to 30lb 4oz and then repeated this on LInford 1 with 2x30s and 3 x20's.  Royston landed a pb of 32lb 9oz from Linford 1  and caught another 30 on the same day.  Please note that Linford 1 is now becoming very weedy so  think about the safety of fish in the rigs you use and where you fish.

Kate with a PF2 cat.

David caught this mirror off the top from PF2

and then a few days later he caught this 33lb mirror (the Pretty One) off the top from Linford 1

A pb for Royston at 32lb 9oz (the Pretty One again).

May 2008

With the exception of one report from PF1 - a 32lb 1oz  mirror for Christian all other reports are from Linford 1.  Although the fishing on Linford 1 has not been to the usual standard for this time of the year there have been a good number of 30lb carp caught.  In fact virtually everyone except myself seems to have caught at least one 30, even Tim who landed Blackspot at midnight on a zig rig!. There have been repeat captures especially the Pretty One who must have been very hungry being caught at least three times in 2 weeks..

Notable catches include 11 fish for Charlie and Dean including 4 x 30s and 3 x 20s for new member Tony and a 33lb mirror for another new member,  Eddie.  Duncan has provided some excellent pictures (so he says) of the Pretty One whom he caught at 32lb 8oz.  Dan has continued with his overnighters and has been successful including Crescent and at least 2 new 30s.  I will update the 30s page soon. Finally Garren seems to the tench king with a 10lb 4oz specimen and many smaller fish.

Duncan with the Pretty One

Charlie with Dunks at 30lb 4oz.

Dean with a 31lb mirror.

Dan landed Crescent early morning.

Crescent again, this time for Eddie.

New member Tim caught Blackspot at midnight on a zig rig.

April 2008

The fish have woken up on Linford 1 and a number of 30s caught and of course. Clover at over 40lb.  One picture sent to me was of this 32lb mirror caught by Paul and it is a new one for the 30s list.

March 2007

A few catch reports but not too many fishing, even Easter was very quite although the poor conditions did not help.   The lakes were flooded for a couple of days.  There have been 20lb+ carp caught from  Rocla, LInford 1 and the Parc Farms and the first cat of the year was caught from PF2.

Members, please remember that your membership fee was due for payment on1 April and if not paid you cannot fish.

February 2008

In these cold spells pike have been active with a few caught throughout the complex.

The best reported catch being a 22lb 4oz fish from Blackhorse.  The carp are waking up with 20’s at least from Blackhorse, Linford and Rocla.   ‘Bobby’ as per Carptalk landed a 32lb+ common carp from Rocla.

The lakes were frozen for a few days in mid February but hopefully warmer weather will soon be here.

Remember – the use of nuts for feed or hook-bait is now banned.

January 2008

As a result of the lack of very cold weather more anglers are fishing and more fish being caught than normal at this time of year.  However, there has been some flooding.  The Parc Farm lakes have been the most productive and Wayne and his guest caught an incredible 26 fish in 36 hours, best 21lb 8oz.  David also had a large catch of 10 fish, best 24lb 4oz and Alan landed a superb linear at 24lb 12oz, all from PF2.   PF1 has also fished well with Nick catching a 29lb 4oz mirror.  Not so many fishing the other lakes and no catch reports but upper 20's have been caught from Blackhorse and Linford 1.

December 2007

As normal only a few anglers have braved the cold but four were rewarded with excellent winter catches.  Alan fished PF1 and caught 8 fish with  the best being 30lb 14oz,  Both Duncan and new member David landed carp of over 30lb from  Linford 1 and Tony caught a 21lb pike from the same lake.

Please note that a large amount of wood chippings have been left near the Linford 1 toilet for anglers to spread around the swims to make these comfortable.

And remember – the use of nuts for feed or hook-bait is now banned.

November 2007

Duncan has been complaining that although he has been sending me catch pictures I have not used them.  I informed him (jokingly) that when he could send me good quality pictures of  large fish and details of their weights I would publish them!  He has achieved that this month with a 35lb 5oz common from Linford 1.   One of the best captures of the year.   To keep him happy there is also a picture of another 30 he recently caught from Linford 1.    Dan has also been catching  well and landed Blackspot at 33lb 12oz.  All the fish are now at top weights.   The complex has been quite although there has been some bad  flooding.  Richard fished PF2  and  caught a 22lb+ mirror and a few doubles in a 24 hour session.

Dan with Blackspot

October 2007

The main news is not of carp or cats but a 3lb 13oz perch caught from the river by young Ceri Rust. A great catch.
Jed has landed a few cats over this summer including a 52lb and 58lb fish.
Nick, Garren and Duncan continue to catch well on Linford 1, all landing fish to over 30lb.   Dan has returned for the winter from southern waters via Belgium and immediately caught a 30lb mirror.   Blackhorse and Rocla have also been producing carp to over 30lb.

Advance warning –  due to the amount of particles being used and consideration for the health of fish (and to encourage greater use of boilies and pellets and so more beneficial food for the carp)  it has been proposed by GLL management to ban all particles (except hemp) for loose feed from 1 Jan 2008.    Particles can still be used as hookbaits only.

Overall the fishing has been slow with little being caught, unless you know different!

There have been rumours of 50lb+ cats from Parc Farm 2  but no catch reports.  At the beginning of the month Nick, Garren and Duncan caught a few carp from Linford One including Crescent and the Pretty One which was also caught by Harry.   There have been 30’s landed from Redhouse, Alder and Blackhorse.

Harry with the Pretty One at 32lb 3oz

Crescent. landed by Duncan at 33lb
